<p>Nokia Siemens Networks and China Mobile Group Fujian Ltd. (Fujian Mobile) have teamed up to provide an eCommerce platform that promises an important link between rural consumers and urban businesses. The unique solution allows affordable access to a wide range of consumer products to villagers in Fujian province, while opening up a vast market to urban retailers and product distributors.</p> <p>The eCommerce solution is an integrated end-to-end service, which contains an online Catalogue Sales Platform (CSP), on which urban businesses can upload their products for marketing to rural customers. The service is delivered to villagers through local entrepreneurs, who provide shared internet access to the online shopping platform tailored to the rural environment</p> <p>Small and medium-sized retailers and distributors, in particular, can improve their business efficiency, and offer a wider product range.</p> <p>According to the NSN <a href="http://www.nokiasiemensnetworks.com/global/Press/Press+releases/news-archive/Online+shopping+opens+new+doors+for+villagers+and+retailers+in+Fujian+province.htm">press release</a> The business model has been successfully piloted over five months at two counties in Fujian province of southeast China in partnership with Fujian Mobile and local retail suppliers. Nokia Siemens Networks has collaborated closely with Fujian Mobile and provided extensive consulting services in identifying this new opportunity.</p>

Nokia goes Hollywood
<p>Nokia announced Friday that its newest research laboratory has been established in the Hollywood area of California.</p> <p>Nokia Research Center Hollywood will work with members of the media &amp; entertainment industry including new technology companies and creative talent, together with leading universities in the region to drive long-term research activities to strengthen Nokia's leadership position in the convergence of internet and mobility.</p> <p>"Hollywood has an enormous variety of academic institutions, innovative media businesses and unique creative talent. It offers exactly the right ingredients for research into topics that will be vital for Nokia's business in the future. The link with the movie industry is naturally strong, however the entertainment concepts we will be working on at the NRC Hollywood laboratory are even more diverse. The laboratory will explore new entertainment experiences that combine the physical and digital worlds. Our research work will focus on mixed reality experiences, with a strong community flavor. We will develop new user interfaces that fully explore the role of the human body and human motion for more natural forms of interaction. Mobile devices will play a central role in this," commented <strong>ebecca Allen</strong>, Laboratory Director of NRC Hollywood in <a href="http://www.nokia.com/A4136001?newsid=1271865">Nokia press release</a>.</p> <p>The new NRC Hollywood laboratory will research on many technologies surrounding the media industry: film, music, games, web and TV. With a strong emphasis on entertainment and associated experiences, research topics will include mixed reality, content creation and user interface experiences, among others.</p>

iPhone is now the #1 mobile advertising device worldwide
<p>AdMob, the world's largest mobile advertising marketplace, Wednesday announced that the iPhone is now the #1 mobile advertising device worldwide, displacing the Motorola RAZR. The iPhone experienced strong traffic worldwide to become the #1 device, with 37 percent of requests coming from outside of the US.</p> <p>The iPhone experienced particularly explosive growth across AdMob’s network after the company launched its ad units for iPhone sites and applications in July 2008. There are currently more than 400 applications and sites in the AdMob's iPhone Network. In October 2008, AdMob reached more than four million unique iPhones, approximately 30 percent of the devices in the market.</p> <p>17 percent of iPhone requests came from Western Europe and 8 percent from Asia. Top markets worldwide include the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Switzerland. In the US the iPhone is the #2 device behind the Motorola RAZR and in the UK it is the #3 device, behind the Nokia N95 and Sony Ericsson K800i.</p> <p>Worldwide requests grew 13.8 percent month over month to 5.8 billion. US requests grew 7.9 percent to 2.2 billion and UK requests grew 16.0 percent.</p> <p>Sony Ericsson passed Motorola to become the #2 handset manufacturer worldwide. Apple jumped ahead of LG and RIM to become the #5 handset manufacturer worldwide.</p> <p>The top 10 devices worldwide, in order, are the Apple iPhone, Motorola RAZR V3, Nokia N70, Motorola KRZR K1c, Motorola W385, Nokia 6300, Nokia 3110c, Nokia N73, Motorola Z6m, and RIM BlackBerry 8300.</p>
